The Pre-"Oh My Goodness Why Did I Take This Many Credit Hours This Semester" Update

Classes Start:
This semester, I will have a total of 15 hours. Classes are Church History 2 (Reformation Baby!!!), Hebrew Syntax (boker tov cuz), Apologetics to Middle Eastern Religions (Ergun Caner should be interesting), Church Planting (I need Pepto Bismol every time the numbers thing comes up), and Christian Leadership. I am determined to blow through the remaining 50 hours I have left. I am hoping to nail Greek through Gordon Conwell Seminary this summer.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!
Eagles v Giants this Sunday. Normally I'm loud and proud about my Eagles. We are on borrowed time right now. For Brian Dawkins sake, I hope we go far and maybe win it all. I am excited to see what they are doing, but it is always bitter sweet with Andy at the helm and Donovan throwing ducks for passes. Yes they have done great things for the team. But they fall short. They will only be good, not great, until they win it all. I don't know if that will ever happen.

Lord Of All?
I was reminded of the Lordship Debate. A great definition is:
"Lordship salvation is a teaching in Christian theology that maintains good works are a necessary consequence of being declared righteous before God. In other words, Jesus cannot be considered a person's savior (that is, bringer of salvation) without simultaneously being lord of the person's life, which is demonstrated by the gradual purification from sin and the exercising of good works."
In other words, if one is truly saved, we should expect to see change in their lives. It’s in the form of a desire for God and naturally good works will pour out of their lives. This is controversial because many say it makes salvation legalistic. I say it makes it expectant. If I say I love someone, my actions will show it. The opposition is very typical of the modern church that has boiled salvation to a simple prayer and little expectancy of a life change. That is NOT the gospel I read of. Disciples- not converts. It isn’t enough to just take someone’s words for it. Give it time and watch for the fruits of repentance to show.

Reading Frenzy
I gotta stop starting to read books. I have about 8 that I started and haven't finished. I have about 6 more I want to start.

Update 9.7.08

-Eagles looked amazing today. Just a shame it was a lame team we played. Next week versus the Cowgirls. I hope we lay the wood to them, and especially T.O. and Romo the Homo
-Church was good today. I enjoy Grace. Worship isn't exactly my style, but I'll live. The teaching is good. Hope I can help with the student ministry
-Why do evolutionists want to stop Global Warming? Don't they believe we will evolve with the changing climate?
-Hebrew is hard, but I love it! Hope I can do really well in this class. Church History is bangin too! My brain is going crazy with good stuff right now.
-Tom Brady is injured. Though I hate the cheating the Pat's did, kinda a bummer. I know how it feels back when Randall Cunningham broke his leg in Game 1 one season.
-My days off aren't long enough.
-Sarah Palin is the bombshell and I hope this is only the beginning of her political career. I can see the dream ticket now: Palin-Ditka 2012.

ESPN NFL Superbowl Pick...the Eagles?????

Story
OK...I'm a die hard fan, but really. Who are they kidding? We still are weak at WR. Donovan is unpredictable still. Westbrook is the only consistent thing on the whole team. And against the Patriots again? They going to cheat their way back? Granted they have the easiest schedule in the NFL, but I think Favre is going to be fired up and a nemesis to them.

Update 7.22.08

-School is three weeks away. I'm excited??? I hated school for 16 years of my life and now I can't wait to get going. Help....me.....
-Still reeling over Batman. I will probably see it again on Tuesday. Heath Ledger gets a thumbs up from me.
-Eagles training camp begins today....YES! GO GREEN!
-McCain and Obama will be having a forum at Saddleback church in CA next month. And Warren takes another step towards taking Falwell's mantle into politics. Sad thing is he is more centrist. Not crazy about that...not that I have a candidate in the race.
-McCain has already turned into the reactionist. Everything Obama does, he attacks. To me, sounds like he knows he's probably going to lose this things already and he's not moving ahead.
-Started my Hebrew studies. I hope I do well because I really want to learn this language.
-I have started counting down to Christmas. I will be hitting NYC with the sister and bro-in-law sometime before it. There is nothing better!
-Three Starbucks are closing in Willow Grove, PA including the two I spent a LOT of time at. I am really saddened by this. Thanks goodness none in Lynchburg are closing.

My 15 Seconds Of Fame...or Hall Of Fame

Tonight Liberty had there big July 4th deal at the football stadium. Part of that was Art Monk and Darrell Green, two Redskin Hall Of Famers, speaking on the "Road to Canton" tour. I was called in to bring a squeegee for the stage...I know...glamour. I was waiting and noticed both players behind me. As I waited for them to hand me back the squeegee, I brainstormed. I started walking away and turned to look at them and said....Go Eagles...and proceeded to walk away. They didn't tackle me which is good. I felt...manly. Good thing they are Christian.

Personal Update

-Just read 600 pages in 2 1/2 days of Systematic Theology. My head is spinning, but it seemed like the same concepts over and over again. A lot of apologetical stuff. Now...to write the 15 page summary...sigh. Another paper due two weeks later and I'm trying to write three more book reviews that are due in two weeks...my mind is blown.
-Down to the Penguins and Red Wings in the Stanley Cup finals. I can officially say I could care less who wins although I really don't like the Penguins with pretty boy Sidney Crosby.
-Less than 40 days till my vacation to Ocean City NJ. I am SO ready to get back home to the Northeast. How I miss my beloved Philadelphia more and more every day I am apart from it.
-Work is work. Nothing to new there.
-I have been watching a lot of Man vs. Wild lately. Bear Grylls is the man...flat out.
-I'm ready for football season already. Eagles will be lackluster again, but I love them anyway.

Another convict in Dallas

Ever since the 90's, I've been stupified over the amount of convicts and ego-maniacal players they all pick. There was a period where they didn't have any, but that all changed with the signing of T.O., the essence of ego-maniac. It's a good thing there is a hole in the top of Texas Stadium so his head will fit in there.

And so it continues today with Pacman Jones joining the squad. A player who is only a month removed from a year off due to disciplinary problems. There are only two players a man with his pride and criminal record could go to...Oakland or Dallas. Seeing as the Cowboys can't win in the playoffs (thank you Romo), why not pick up another convict to help you out. Michael Cocaine Irvin is the poster child of Jerry Jones' Cowboys- egocentric and a criminal. And Landry turns in his grave again...
