Replace the Cheesesteak? ARE YOU NUTS?

http://tinyurl.com/4uumzk

Are you kidding me? What is this loser thinking? The beauty of this story is the comments below. I love Philadelphian attitudes. Some of them are the following:
  • Are you on CRACK??
  • wow - this chick must be a blast at parties.
  • Why do you have a job?
  • Who invited Debby Downer to the party? Go back to Gladwyn and keep your uppity opinions to yourself.
  • Are you a communist? Leave my cheesesteak alone!
  • there's 2 minutes i won't get back.
  • Karen you are an idiot....enough said
  • Women are prone to cellulite and celluloops starting at a very young age, so Karen is right to stear clear of them I think.

My 15 Seconds Of Fame...or Hall Of Fame

Tonight Liberty had there big July 4th deal at the football stadium. Part of that was Art Monk and Darrell Green, two Redskin Hall Of Famers, speaking on the "Road to Canton" tour. I was called in to bring a squeegee for the stage...I know...glamour. I was waiting and noticed both players behind me. As I waited for them to hand me back the squeegee, I brainstormed. I started walking away and turned to look at them and said....Go Eagles...and proceeded to walk away. They didn't tackle me which is good. I felt...manly. Good thing they are Christian.

Update 6.23.08

Been awhile since I updated.
-I LOVE Mark Driscoll. Been listening to his Doctrine series which is fantastic. I also listened to his sermons on Birth Control, Paying a Pastor and Does God Have A Sense Of Humor. His wit is hillarious, yet at the same time the dude is deep. He is the perfect balance. He gives me hope that the modern church does have some hope amidst the Seeker Sensitive delusion.
-I survived my second intensive in Cross-Cultural Evangelism and Church Planting. It was alright. I did really well in it. I am writing my final paper for it on "Are Short Term Missions Trips, Missions Trips?" My early thoughts...no. They're ministry trips. Some are more work trips. They pass them off as though building a house is evangelistic. Its helpful, but its NOT missions. Not only that, but even my teacher from Kenya said that the locals often lay back and let the short term people do the dirty work they don't want to do.
-My kids called me on their way to camp. It was very emotional. I miss those kids so much. The girls called on Sunday and the boys tonight. I love them more than my own life. I didn't get enough time with them. I am so pleased to see what God allowed me to start and what my amazing leadership team is continuing in my absence. Only Jesus could do that. I only saught to please him and him alone, not a boss or denomination or for a speaking opportunity at NYWC. It's ALWAYS been about loving the kids. I'd give them my life it God asked me.
-Phillies were hot, now they have cooled off. I'm still pretty pleased with them. Eagles camp starts in a few weeks.
-Vacation in less than 2 weeks and I'm PUMPED! OC NJ is the one and only beach in the world. I love it. Johnson's popcorn, Fudge Kitchen, Mack and Mancos, and...oh yeah...the beach. I love the boardwalk!

Rodrigo y Gabriela Ticket Purchased

Last summer I had the opportunity to go see Rod y Gab in Baltimore. I didn't go because I was so tired after getting back from camp. It was weeks after, a friend who saw them live couldn't stop talking about how amazing the show was. I wanted to kick myself.

That being said, they're coming to Richmond VA on August 8...AND I'M PSYCHED! I bought my ticket and have asked to get off work. I am really looking forward to seeing them. I stumbled across the video of them live on Letterman. Enjoy! They are awesome!!!

Story on Teenage Pregnancy that Angers/Saddens Me

Just caught this off Hotair.com. Story
I am saddened and angered at this. Since they are under 16, where were the parents? Why did the parents not catch on that they were spending a lot of time with boys not to mention that the "pact" had to slip out somewhere. What the heck??? And a 24 year old homeless man? Gosh.

Erin Go Braugh!!! Go Ireland!

Gotta love it. Little old Ireland, one of my heritages, thumbs its nose to the EU. Story
Gotta love how the attempt at an EU president falls all because Ireland refused to go along with the rest of Europe. I'm so proud of them! The EU is shaken and has no idea what to do with themselves. I appreciate the fact the Irish spoke their mind. They want more democracy and a vote for any president put in charge of the EU. This is to sweet! I love them all!!!

A side note...I'm SUPER PUMPED about my Chelsea FC picking up the only coach I wanted in Scolari! I hope he has major success in the EPL and UEFA. I hope this two year run of Manchester United has come to an end. On top of it, There is rumor Ett'o, Ronaldinho, Deco and Kaka are among potential targets for the roster....HOW SWEET IS THIS??? I miss Jose, but Scolari may make me forget it all

R.I.P. Tim Russert

Wow. Two media deaths in one week.

Tim Russert was about the only guy on mainstream news that I could actually stand. I really liked the man. He could make electoral college actually interesting! He introduced us to the map with the numbers on it and showed all the possible patterns a candidate would have to do to win. Now everyone imitates him. I heard him on Rush several times and he seemed like one of the democrats I could sit down with and have a great discussion with even if we didn't agree. He was real and a charmer. I don't know one person who hated him other than politicians that he nailed to the wall. May God bless his family.

Is National Pride Dead?

As I've been watching the Euro religiously this week, I LOVE the singing of national anthems at the beginning of the game. You hear each country LOUDLY singing the praise of their country. I remember first seeing this at a Rugby match. The Rugby players could rip your face off and yet they loudly and proudly sing the anthem of their nation.

And it makes me sad. In the USA, we are condemned when we reflect too much national pride. We are supposed to feel guilty if we do. I have never seen American players in any sport or hear a crowd as loud as this. Whatever happened to being proud of the nation you were born in and have sworn allegiance to? Shame on us.

Just for Fun: Man Laws

I remember these commercials and now saw the Facebook group. Some are inappropriate, but some of these are a scream:
  • Every man shall allow one empty urinal of separation in a bathroom with three or more urinals; law is void if there are dividers in between each urinal.
  • When calling shotgun, all riders of the car must be outside, and shotgun can only be called when the car is in view. Riders in the car are not allowed to run to shotgun and steal it before the person who called and deserves it arrives there. The driver of the car has no authority to decide on who gets shotgun. If a legitimate confrontation comes up where the rightful owner of the shotgun can not be determined then it will be decided by one round of paper rock scissors (with no shoot). If the two contenders tie 5 times in a row then the rightful owner of the shotgun is to be decided by a UFC cage match in which the first blood drawn decides the rightful owner of shotgun.
  • The head nod is an acceptable way to greet another guy when simply walking past. No words are needed to be said. An upward nod is for friends, a downward nod is for fellow men.
  • Do not have a conversation at a urinal.
  • When approaching men watching a sporting event, the man cannot ask what the significance of the game is, who is playing, or how it is played. He must already know

R.I.P. Jim McKay

Jim McKay passed today. He was one of the first sportscasters I remember from when I started watching sports with ABC's Wide World of Sports. He was a great guy and a legend in sportscasting. As an appreciator of sports, its a loss. The legends are dying off. What will really be weird is when some of the well known ESPN guys start passing on. We still have Brent Mussberger and Keith Jackson of the legends. He will be missed.
